Installation and SmartScreen

Before you begin

  • Confirm the private installer source and expected filename directly with the Sthang owner.
  • Stop all active Sthang work and close any running Sthang window.
  • Keep Windows SmartScreen enabled.

Obtain the installer

  1. Use only the private installer link sent directly by the Sthang owner. The current controlled delivery method may be Google Drive or another owner-approved private share.
  2. Run the installer. Sthang uses a per-user installation and does not normally require administrator rights.
  3. Launch Sthang from the Start menu.

Expected result

Sthang opens under your current Windows profile and presents the license gate or the main window if that profile is already activated. Continue with License Activation, then create the first backup before configuration.

Expected SmartScreen experience

The initial Sthang releases are Tauri-updater signed but are not Authenticode-signed. Windows SmartScreen may therefore show an Unknown publisher or reputation warning, especially for a new download with little reputation history.

Confirm the link and expected filename with the Sthang owner. If Windows offers More info, review the filename before choosing Run anyway. Do not disable SmartScreen globally and do not install a copy forwarded by another user or obtained from an unofficial mirror.

Updater signatures protect Sthang's in-app update channel. They do not create an Authenticode publisher identity or immediate SmartScreen reputation.

Stop and get help

Do not continue if the installer came from another user, the filename differs from the one the owner confirmed, Windows reports a signature or integrity failure, or the installer unexpectedly requests administrator credentials. Keep the file closed and contact the Sthang owner through the private support channel.

Uninstall

Use Windows Installed apps. Uninstalling the program is separate from deleting your per-user data and license. Keep a verified backup before removing either data location manually.
